Switching guide

Keeping your Apple Watch when switching to Android

A practical checklist for pairing, alerts, music, health and alarms before changing your everyday phone.

In brief

Retain your paired iPhone and evaluate each feature you rely on. Wristvia has useful prototype results, but a working desk test is not a dependable everyday setup.

1. Preserve the working watch setup

Keep your current Apple Watch pairing and access to its iPhone. Android does not take over Apple’s setup or management. Check Apple’s setup requirements for your model before changing devices.

2. Check your essential features

Questions to answer on your own devices
NotificationsWhich apps must reach your wrist, and how long can you tolerate a missed alert? Wristvia’s sustained delivery is still being qualified.
MusicDo you need phone playback control, or audio playing on the watch? Wristvia controls a compatible phone session; it does not stream phone audio to the watch.
Messages and callsReading a preview, sending a reply and carrying Android call audio are different capabilities. General replies are not physically verified; call audio is not established.
HealthWhere do you need the data to appear? Health Connect writes do not guarantee that every Android health app reads the same types.
AlarmsCan you open Wristvia to arm the exact next time? Repeating watch taps require confirmed arming; a forwarded clock notification is a different fallback.
Connectivity and batteryCheck nearby and apart behavior, locked phones, long idle and normal battery use separately.

3. Understand nearby and internet features

Bluetooth-first linking and nearby alerts are implemented. Internet Backup is optional and needs approval on both devices. General notification actions and Wi-Fi sharing currently depend on that backup route. Health sync has a nearby Bluetooth path with its own consent and permissions; one record and Health Connect write were physically verified on 2 November. Wi-Fi sharing is a separate utility, not a prerequisite for using an already available network.

Use the compatibility guide for feature boundaries and notification guide for the current route.

4. Evaluate actual results

The device report distinguishes observations from pending checks. Physical testing covers one Honor phone and one Series 11; it does not qualify another phone or older watch. There is no public installation option yet.

When a supported test build is available, record misses as well as successes. Check actual wrist alerts and source-app effects; a server acceptance or dispatched command alone does not establish the outcome.

5. Make the decision around your essentials

Keep a dependable arrangement for features you cannot miss while the prototype is qualified. Follow the dated guides or register interest for future testing news. No release date or invitation is guaranteed.
